"But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold."
JOB 23:10
Kathy Kearney was born and raised in a small town in Western Pennsylvania of Homer City, in Indiana County.
She was born to John and Louise George on December 12, 1939. During WW2 her father worked as a machinist for Syntron Corp. making bomb sites for our bombers.
After the war they settled on a farm owned by her Grandfather T.K. George that was one of the most prosperous fruit farms in the area. This was because of John's expertise that he learned at Penn State University. She spoke often of her life on the farm and it shows in her stories. In the mid-1950's they moved west due to a back injury that her father had sustained as a young man.
They settled in Needles California much to Kathy chagrin. This was not the happiest time in her life but all a part of growing up. Following graduation from Needles High School she attended college in Pasadena California. It was there that she met her Lord Jesus Christ. You will want to read her testimony for yourself. It is among her stories and I know you will find it exciting. Over the years of our marriage I must have heard her give her testimony a hundred times or more and it was always exciting and fresh to her. I know you will enjoy reading that.
By the way, it was in Pasadena that she met and married her husband of 45 years. She and Dewey Kearney raised three children, Sean, Leslie and Kimberley. And she was the proud Grandmother of 5 Grandkids, Matthew, Bryant, Abigail, Madelyn and Mitchell.
Kathy was a devout Christian and loved her Lord with all her heart. This shows in every short story she ever wrote. She wrote for 30+ years, some published, some not. She also wrote and produced numerous Christian plays and old-time melodramas. She served as paid drama director for our church and was very proud of the fact that every piece her drama company performed she wrote herself.
Kathy also served in this church as an elder. Now, I know that someone is going to say that a woman cannot serve in this capacity. Not true, because of her wonderful testimony she was elected unanimously by the congregation. In fact one of her articles is entitled "What Can A Woman Do". Please read it for yourself. In Christ there is no distinction.
One of Kathy's favorite verses was Psalm 45:1
“My heart is stirred by a noble theme as I recite my verses for the king; my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer.” And indeed she was.
The Lord called her home on March 14, 2006 as he will eventually all his children. For her now she is with the Lord she loved so much and enjoying perfect health.
I have also included a section on poetry written by one of Kathy's best friends, Darlene Santiago of Albuquerque New Mexico. Excellent poetry; and something brand new - a couple of articles by Kathy's youngest granddaughter Madelyn (Maddy). I know you will be impressed and blessed by the writings of this young lady. She has the same spirit and displays the same talent as her grandmother.
And so it is with great pride that I introduce to you the Short Stories, Bible Studies and Monologues of Kathy Kearney. Enjoy!
