Grandma

Some say you left home,
I say you went home.

Some say they miss you,
I say I’m happy for you.

Some people cry of sadness,
I prefer to cry of happiness.

No matter where I go,
You’ll be with me.

I miss you now,
But one day I will rejoice again.

You didn’t abandon me,
Everyday you walk by my side.

You went to the Lord 5 years ago,
I just turned 8.

It was too soon for me,
But it wasn’t for you.

The Lord needs the best,
And you were one of them.

He eased your pain and gave you strength,
He fixed what was once broken.

I will love you forever,
You will always be in a special spot in my heart.

We will never part,
Every day I think of our few, but great, memories.

You know I can’t wait to see you one day in the far future.
I love you grandma

The author, Maddy Accomando, is Kathy's youngest granddaughter and was only 8 years old when God called Kathy home. She is 13 now and you can see the kind of impact her Godly grandma had on her at so young an age.

This was done as an elegy (a poem written in remembrance of someone she knew who had passed away) in her Language Arts class of Jr. High.
